EMG – Essen Marketing GmbH – is thrilled to welcome Austria this year as the guest country of the Essener Lichtwochen (Essen Light Weeks). From 26 October 2008 until 3 January 2009, topical images from the culture, natural scenery and history of the guest country will shine out over the city centre of Essen.
On a technical level, the Austrian illuminations will be composed of LEDs, and on a cultural level they will be accompanied by a high quality programme of events that reflects the artistic diversity of the country.
New illumination
Over 500,000 LEDs show the city centre in a new array of lights.
With a ground-breaking new design concept, the 59th Essen Light Weeks will appear this year in a whole new light. EMG – Essen Marketing GmbH – has been the first city in Germany to switch over to LED technology for the winter illumination. Together with their project partners, MK Illumination, Austria, RWE Rhein-Ruhr AG, Essen, and Elektro Schneider, Mülheim, this project is setting standards nationally for seasonal city lighting, both in the type and the scope of the illumination.
